The Unique Museum Exhibits in Augmented Reality
Since 2017 “State Catalog of the Museum Fund of the Republic of Kazakhstan" is being implemented in Kazakhstan. It aims at giving the opportunity to all citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan and foreign countries to get acquainted with the extensive collection of exhibits of the national museums of Kazakhstan.
This way, modern digital technologies come to the assistance to tell about the culture of the country: we use databases of 3D models of objects, virtual tours, mobile applications, websites. In this case, we implemented augmented reality app as one of the solutions.
Unfortunately, not every resident of Kazakhstan (and especially of other countries) can come to Astana to visit the National Museum and admire its unique collection. But if the mountain will not come to Mohammed, Mohammed must go to the mountain.
So, we bring images, virtual 3D models of the museum exhibits directly to potential visitors. Developed by United 3D Labs specialists, the mobile application allows you to see perfectly accurate and realistic 3D models of the museum artifacts in augmented reality. Today you can study and enjoy beautiful pieces of rich Kazakhstani culture in the most remote parts of the world, and all you need is just a tablet computer. Visitors to the virtual museum can examine the artifacts from all sides (and even inside!) as if the exhibits were really moved from the museum showcases on the user’s table. Apple's use of ARKit does not require any additional markers or hardware other than a standard tablet.
In this regard, it is worth highlighting the fact that three-dimensional objects appearing out of nowhere make a great impact on children, which means that virtual museum tours can be successfully implemented in schools.
You are welcome to be our guest! We will be happy to discuss your ideas in our demo-room, help you to choose the solution which fits you best and demonstrate our works.
